ASimpleAviationTool is a free aviation toolkit for iOS pilots. It provides real-time weather briefings (METAR, TAF, NOTAM, SIGMET, VOLMET), full airport information from the OurAirports database, and essential calculators for crosswind, holding patterns, and fuel.

ASimpleAviationTool is a one-time purchase with no subscriptions, no recurring fees, and no hidden in-app purchases. All tools are available immediately after download.

METAR, TAF, NOTAM, SIGMET, and VOLMET data are retrieved from public aviation weather APIs in real time. An active internet connection is required to fetch live weather. The app does not store or cache weather data between sessions.

Yes. You can search by ICAO code (e.g. LFPG), IATA code (e.g. CDG), or airport name. The app resolves IATA codes to ICAO automatically so that runway, frequency, and weather data are always returned correctly.

Enter the runway heading, reported wind direction, and wind speed. The calculator instantly shows the crosswind component and headwind/tailwind component. When you look up an airport, the calculator can automatically use the reported runways and wind from the current METAR.

Enter your current track and the holding fix inbound course. The calculator determines the correct entry procedure — direct, parallel, or teardrop — based on the angular difference between the two, following standard ICAO holding entry criteria.

The airport database is stored on your device and works offline. Calculators (crosswind, holding, fuel) also work offline. Live weather data (METAR, TAF, NOTAM, SIGMET) requires an internet connection.

Airport data is sourced from OurAirports (ourairports.com), a publicly available database released under a Creative Commons CC0 licence. It includes airports, runways, frequencies, and countries worldwide.

We do not collect any personal data. The only network requests made by the app are to public aviation data APIs for weather and NOTAM retrieval. No usage analytics or tracking are used. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
